Dog-Friendly Places to Visit
Beaches
Dogs are allowed on Fort Morgan beaches. Our dogs love it there! If you want to spend quality time with your canine companion at the beach, it’s definitely worth the trip. Our dogs love all the smells—lots of driftwood. It takes about 25 minutes to drive to Fort Morgan.
Dog Park
Just a few minutes away at Gulf State Park, you’ll find the best dog park around—The Dog Pond. There are separate areas for big and small dogs, agility equipment, and a freshwater pond for swimming.

Restaurants
Pete’s Ice Cream
In the evenings, we love to walk the dogs over to Pete’s Ice Cream in Tannin Town Square and get an ice cream cone for everyone.
Southern Grind Coffee Shop
This coffee shop is half a mile away and has great coffee, gelato, and an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with patio seating.
Picnic Beach
Picnic Beach in Gulf Shores has a menu of delicious fresh food and a patio covered in turf, making it easy on the paws.
Parlor Doughnuts
Located in Gulf Shores, Parlor Doughnuts has dog doughnuts, so you can all snack together. Our dogs love them!
Big Beach Brewing
Big Beach Brewing in Gulf Shores has live music and fresh beer on tap with a patio to enjoy with your pets.
Tacky Jacks
All Tacky Jack locations are pet-friendly. You can even pull up dockside in your boat!
Cosmos and Lunas
Both restaurants are on Canal Road in Orange Beach in the same complex. They are named after the owner’s dogs, adding a personal touch. They are our family’s favorite restaurants, including grandma and grandpa.
The Gulf
Located on the East end of Orange Beach before the bridge, this chill spot has outdoor games and music. Your dogs can hang out beachside and play in the sand.
Retail Shop
Sweet Pea’s Posh Pets
Sweet Pea’s Posh Pets is an awesome pet shop on Canal Road next to Cosmo’s that offers toys, treats, and outfits. Ben absolutely loves their Pixie Sticks. They also support local rescues.
The Wharf
Many shops at The Wharf are pet-friendly.
Veterinarians
If something happens to your pet and you need veterinary assistance, as we once did with Ben, there are two veterinarians in Orange Beach.
